Hometown Pride

Junior
Junior
Hello dear readers!
I am Junior Olinger.
I wrote books at this site with Biggie Olinger.
We lost Biggie in 2005 to a long term illness.
We adopted the same year Sugar and Tiger Olinger - the twin girls.
Boy! Are they a handful of energy!

We were adopted. Some people call us STRAY cats.
We came from a community not far from where we live now.
We came to the town of Blacksburg Virginia to live when we were very young.
Now, Sugar, Tiger and ME - the June Man - adopt Blacksburg as our HOMETOWN.
Do you have pride in your hometown?

Junior

Can you look around and see lots of historic places and museums?
Blacksburg, Va, has some wonderful sites.
We have a nice museum awaiting restoration.
We have historic places such as Smithfield.

SUGAR AND TIGER WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT SOME SPECIAL SIGHTS TO THEM:
Main Street - that is where their VET has his office.
Do you like to go to the doctor?
None of us like to go to the VET, but we have to go when we are feeling sick.

They love to drive in their carrier and look out and see all the horses in the fields by the Virginia Tech campus.
They have little horses and teenage horses.
Sugar says she knows they are about a year old. They are beautiful.
They also have all kinds of animals. Lots of farms.
They love to see other animals.

Sugar and Tiger want to tell you that they have seen some new sites.
They have seen some Hokie Birds in the downtown area of Blacksburg.
They love that Hokie Bird. They love birds. Love to watch birds.
Sugar and Tiger (see their pictures) love to make this little squeaking voice when they hear the birds outside the window.

Sugar and Tiger want to know -- Do you know your parents' full names?
Your grandparents' full names?
Great-grands?
Cousins?
Aunts and Uncles?
Make a list. Put them in a book. Research your family history.

Junior

While you are doing a family history notebook, put in some facts about your own HOMETOWN.
Research your own hometown.
Find out all the interesting facts about your hometown.

Blacksburg is a wonderful town with GREAT people. Sugar wants to say that we have a university in our town called Virginia Tech.
They have a great football team. Our Uncle Frank and his grandson Blake love football! Our grandpa Luther loved the games. The Hokies are GREAT!
Tiger wants to tell you he likes paradesÑthe parades are GREAT here in our hometown. Do you have parades?

Junior

Do some research on the subject.
Want to see our hometown? Go on the internet (with your parents' permission of course) and search.
You can see Sugar and Tiger (the identical twin girls) and me in this book.
We want you to read our books--but we also want you to find out more about your own hometown.

You all know that we were all adopted into our human family.
We don't have to work.
Our work is being there to love our human mom.
After all, she types all our stories. We have to be VERY NICE to her.

Our human mother has strength and determination.
She attributes that to her "roots" in her hometown.
She loves the area and the people of her town.

We have not changed much since these pictures. In fact, I am considering not taking another picture of myself because I need to get off some of my baby fat. The baby fat that has been there now for a few years.
The girls like to call me the JUNE MAN and they tease me about being so FAT! The fat cat! Ok! I can take it. I need to lose a couple of pounds of baby fat.
Have a great day readers! We love our readers
